Description
fter the big success of the Redmi 4 series of phones, Xiaomi is now set to unveil the first Redmi 5 series phone. This phone is going to be called the Redmi Note 5A and it is launching in China in the next few hours. The upcoming smartphone is said to be the successor of the Redmi 4A, which is a phone in India sold for under Rs 10,000, and not the Redmi Note 4. Xiaomi, earlier last week, had confirmed that it would be unveiling the Redmi Note 5A on August 21.
For now, the phone is going to be available only in China. But there is possibility that Xiaomi will bring Redmi Note 5A to India very soon, probably in the next few months, because Redmi phones are very popular in India. In fact, the success of the Redmi phones in India has made Xiaomi one of the biggest phone sellers in the world. Also, given the fact that the Note 5A is a budget phone, it will be a good for India.
Since it revealed the launch date of August 21 for the Redmi Note 5, Xiaomi is also dropping hints about the possibly specs and features of the phone. Last week, the company CEO Lei Jun took to weibo to post a few images of the smartphone. The images show that the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A will be announced in four colour options -- gray, pink, gold and white. Rumours are that the company is also working on a black colour option for the Redmi Note 5A.
Xiaomi Note 5A leaked specs
Earlier last week, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A was spotted on TENNA. The benchmark listing leaked the complete specification details of the device. As per the listing, the smartphone will be bigger than its successor aka the Redmi 4A. The interesting bit to note here is that the Redmi Note 5A is a phone that can be considered a grown up Redmi 4A. It is not a successor to the Redmi Note 4, which is in a different class.
To recall, the Redmi 4A sports a 5-inch display, while the new phone is touted to come with 5.5-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. The listing further reveals that the device will be powered by a 1.4 GHz quad-core processor coupled with 2GB RAM. Redmi 4A gets its power from Qualcomm's Snapdragon 425 chipset clocked at the speed of 1.4GHz and paired with Adreno 308 GPU and 2GB RAM. On the storage front, the upcoming Redmi Note 5A is expected to come with 16GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB storage via microSD card. Now a new leak reveals that the internal storage of the Redmi Note 5A can be expanded up to 128GB. Another leak also confirmed a dedicated microSD slot and front camera flash for the Redmi Note 5A.
